Separating Boys and Girls in the Classroom

This is an article from NY Times. It discusses how schools are separating boys and girls to see if test scores increase and behavior problems decrease.

What do you think about this? Is it practical?

It is an interesting article. I am torn on whether it is good or not. I think if you had some interaction, or if it was perhaps just for a year, and not all the time it would be more beneficial.

I agree that there are benefits, and there are some subjects that hold more interest or more pertinence in a same gender class and that some students may thrive in such a classroom. Overall though I think the benifits to having a mixed class outweigh those of having just boys or just girls in the class. I think you can still address those issues they brought up in a mixed class.
